Neotech® Products LLC and Ninni™ Co. are joining forces to bring the popular direct-to-consumer brand pacifier into hospitals.

Ninni was co-founded by sisters, Jane Molina and Joy Williams. Each is a mom of three children who experienced their own soother struggles. Their patented breast-like pacifier is specifically designed to mimic a woman’s anatomy to help reinforce a strong, healthy breastfeeding latch. Additionally, the Ninni encourages natural sucking and tongue movement during soothing.

“There was no soother on the market that actually mimicked the true natural suckling movement a baby experiences when latched onto mama’s breast,” Jane said.

Ninni successfully launched its direct-to-consumer website in 2021. The brand has experienced staggering growth due to social media and word of mouth. However, they were having challenges penetrating the hospital market. Therefore, they partnered with Neotech to bring the benefits of the breast-like pacifier into hospitals.

Neotech Products announces the release of a new nasogastric tube holder.

The NeoSnug’s unique, pre-cut shape goes under the nose and allows clinicians to secure the tubing close to the nares. Like several Neotech products, NeoSnug features a NeoBond® Hydrocolloid base, which is less likely to irritate sensitive skin. The flap secures the ng tube permanently to prevent it from shifting or slipping.

“Current common practice is to use multiple products to secure the ng tube; applying DuoDERM® to the skin, then placing the tube, then laying Tegaderm™ or Hypafix® over that,” Inventor Carol Herndon, BSN, RNC-NIC, said. “And nurses often hand-cut them to get the shape they need. I wanted a single use, all-in-one solution that was skin friendly, pre-cut, and extremely secure. The design also helps guard against the infant accidentally pulling out the tube.”

The NeoSnug nasogastric tube holder is made in the United States to ensure quality. The non-woven fabric contours to face or body. What is ROP

Retinopathy of prematurity is an eye disease that can happen in premature babies. It causes abnormal blood vessels to grow in the retina, and can lead to blindness.

Some cases of ROP are mild and correct themselves. However, some cases are severe enough to cause scarring that can pull the retina away from the rest of the eye. These cases need surgery to prevent vision loss or blindness.

Neotech Products is proud to announce the acquisition of the Revolutionary Bridge!

The new Neotech Bridge (formerly Laally Bridge) is an easy-to-use, breastfeeding aid that helps babies latch to the breast. It also helps to promote milk production. The Bridge can be used in most circumstances in which a bottle would traditionally be used (e.g., slow weight gain, pain with latch, delay in milk production, jaundice, bottle preference, etc.).

“Neotech is primarily known as a NICU company, but the Bridge is a natural progression into the Mother Baby market,” Craig McCrary, Neotech President said. “We have a few other products in the works for the Mother Baby space. The Bridge marks the start of a new era for Neotech.”

The Bridge is a silicone nipple cover with a built-in channel that attaches to a syringe filled with breastmilk or formula. The syringe allows mom to control the amount and flow to keep the baby at the breast feeding continuously.

Bridge to Breast

Hydrogel is a great conductor that facilitates strong tracings. It also promotes healthy skin, which is always a positive. But the hydrogel doesn’t hold up over time. Especially in humidity. This causes other electrodes to slip or fall off much more easily.

Cloth tape can be an effective way to hold an ET tube in place. However, it can be extremely damaging to the fragile skin of a neonate. NeoBar was designed to offer secure neonatal ET tube support while reducing skin trauma.

Terri Lichtel, BSN & RN is a Neotech Clinical Consultant who facilitates in-service training on the safe and effective use of the NeoBar ET Tube Holder. Prior to adopting the NeoBar, Terri’s unit used cloth tape without a barrier on the skin.

“I knew we needed something different to stabilize the ET tube,” Terri said. “We had issues with skin integrity. Babies that would self extubate and the tape would have to be removed quickly. It was causing a lot of skin tears.

The NeoLead® family of skin friendly neonatal electrodes offers a combination of hydrogel and hydrocolloid. 

Choose from Standard, Radiolucent (which are nearly invisible on x-rays), Mini, or Micro limb leads. Each features our patented combination of hydrogel and NeoBond® Hydrocolloid. The NeoBond border is designed to prevent the hydrogel from oozing or drying prematurely, which can cause competitive leads to fall off faster. The hydrocolloid also helps the neonatal electrodes to stay on longer which provides better stability for better tracings.

Competitive leads from Covidian, Meditrace, Cardinal, 3M, and more use hydrogel only. They fall off much easier. When warmed and applied correctly, our neonatal electrodes will stay on for up to five days. When leads stay in place, you get a better tracings.

NeoLead can also reduce nursing time required to reapply new electrodes frequently or check alarms due to slipping.

Tiny Preemies Need Tiny Electrodes

Neotech offers two extra small neonatal electrodes. The N300 Mini is about the size of a dime. It offers the same size sensor as our standard NeoLead, but has a much smaller footprint. The N306 Micro offers a limb lead that doesn’t wrap around the limb, yet holds effectively. The Micro is also radiolucent.

Our family of radiolucent NeoLeads do not need to be removed when taking x-rays. Which means that you don’t have to take time to remove and reapply.

All NeoLead ECG electrodes are pre-wired. The N315 offers a set of five leads for multi-channel continuous monitoring. They are ideal for larger pediatric patients.

Skin Friendly NeoBond Hydrocolloid

When used correctly, NeoBond Hydrocolloid helps decrease the risk of damage to the fragile epidermis. Heat is the catalyst for hydrocolloid. The following steps are necessary to ensure the effectiveness of hydrocolloid based products. Warm NeoLead neonatal electrodes in your hands or under a heel warmer for best adhesion.

Saturate each electrode with water or saline before removing. Then slowly peel away from the skin as you continue to swab the skin.

Properly applying and removing NeoLead will help to reduce the risk of skin damage or irritation. Which is the ultimate goal when treating preemies.

Concerned parents approached Neotech to design a new trach tie (tracheostomy tube holder).

One Texas couple understood, firsthand, the need to improve the trach tie. The trach collars provided to their son had caused constant skin breakdown. Fortunately, their son was decannulated at age four. He no longer needed the device.

Still, his parents knew there was a need for a better option. They wanted to create a new tracheostomy tube holder in order to spare others from suffering the skin irritations that had plagued their child. The couple teamed up with Neotech in hopes of creating the finest product available.

They originally wanted a plastic strap. Their experience with materials had been a nightmare.

Craig McCrary, President, said “We felt there was a better solution than plastic. So we explored various material.”

As a result, we landed on neoprene which is the material used to make wetsuits. EZCare™ was launched in 2007. The product was successful, but costly due to the material.
